Competition Results

SA Machine Shearing Winners:
1st place Bangani (Dawid) August of Smithfield Shearing Services.
Dawid is 33 years old, still inexperienced in local competitions. Dawid’s record – 12 sheep in 16min 49 sec.

2nd place Isaac Ndlongwane is a self-employed shearing contractor.
Isaac is 39 years old and a well experienced shearer, who on several occasions was a finalist in previous championships. Record 12 sheep in 17min 25 sec.

3rd place Themba Alpheus Khoza is a young and upcoming shearer.
Themba is 31 years old and a full-time shearing instructor and employee of the NWGA. Record 12 sheep in 17min 34sec.

All of them will be staying in NZ from September until 5 March 2012, after the World Championships, in order for them to stay fit and to shear the NZ sheep as practice for the WC.

SA OPEN MACHINE SHEARING WINNERS:

2nd place Charles August – Dawid’s older brother working for CMW – 12 sheep in 16min 20sec

3rd place Elly Teboho Nohale is a 39 year old experienced shearer and represented SA in 2009 in Wales. He is a self employed shearing contractor and half brother of Isaac Ndlongwane. – 12 sheep in 17min 10sec

Elly will also be staying in NZ from Sept.2011 until March 2012

SA Blade Shearing Final:
1st place P. Notu working for CMW Record 8 sheep 20min 29sec

2nd place Z. Hans – Zweliwile is 49 years old and a very experienced shearer who has represented SA numerous times in the past. He has been World Champion in the Blade Shearing Division three times already – 1998 in Northern Ireland, 2000 in SA and 2008 in Norway. He is the current SA National Blade Shearing Champion. Zweliwile is employed by CMW Shearing Contractors in SA Record for this year 8 sheep in 21 min 48 sec

3rd place Z.F. Maqhosha working for BKB 3rd place Record 8 sheep 27 min 11 sec

SA Open Blade Shearing Final:
1st place Z. Hans – Zweliwile is 49 years old and a very experienced shearer who has represented SA numerous times in the past. He has been World Champion in the Blade Shearing Division three times already – 1998 in Northern Ireland, 2000 in SA and 2008 in Norway. He is the current SA National Blade Shearing Champion. Zweliwile is employed by CMW Shearing Contractors in SA Record for this year 8 sheep in 19min 44sec

2nd place Mayenzeke Shweni 38 years old, working for CMW. In 2009 Mayenzeke represented SA in Wales and the took the 4th place in die Final Blade Shearing Event. He also shared the first prize in the Blade Shearing Team event.

3rd place Bangani Joel is a full time employee at Brandfort Shearing (Nico Coetzee). Bangani also represented SA in Wales in 2009 and was the winner of the Welsh Open Blade shearing event – Record 8 sheep 20min20sec

SA Wool Handling Final:
1st place E. Kitching, Student.

2nd place M.Meerkat (BKB)

3rd place L. Kuyane Student.

Mayenzeki Shweni at the 2012 world shearing championships

Congratulations to Mayenzeke Shweni who was crowned NZ Open champion blade shearer on Saturday 3 March at the World Shearing Championships in Masterton, New Zealand. Shweni’s teammate, three-time champion Zweliwile Hans, had finished second in the blade shearing division.

In the World Shearing Championships, they exchanged places with Zwelile winning and Mayenzeke coming in second. See more results for the 2012 World Shearing Championships.
